Jasmin was born in Houston, Texas where she grew up in a musically gifted family her mother was an aspiring actress and her grandmother had sung in a gospel singing group called the Houston Harmonettes for over 53 years. Jasmin entered the world with a bedazzled microphone in her hand ready to do some damage yet as her mother recalls it “she couldn’t sing a note” and she was very shy.
Eventually she grew into her own and around the age of 8 her voice decided to make an appearance and the once shy little girl could be heard through out her neighborhood. Her mother helped channel her love of music she enrolled her in piano, violin, and dance classes. Around 13 years old she was encouraged to join a talent show at her church in which up to that point no one even knew should could sing, but after that night and winning 2nd place which included her very on 22 inch t.v. she thought she had arrived. She immediately joined the youth choir and from there her love of music sky rocketed.
It wasn’t until Jasmin’s senior year in high school did she decide to pursue acting up until that point she had been a star athlete on her track and field team. She auditioned for her homecoming musical the The Wiz and got cast as Dorothy in which she was nominated for Best Actress for a Tommy Tune Award. It was then that she knew what she wanted she went on to graduate with her BFA in musical theater from Abilene Christian University. Upon graduation she started working on cruise ships such as Norwegian, Celebrity, and Disney Cruise Lines where she was able to travel all around the world performing. From there she moved to New York to tackle the big city and tackle it she did in a years time she booked three equity shows a cruise line and more recently the 2012-2013 National Tour of Dreamgirls where she’ll be starring as Deena Jones.
